Farm Days showcases locally sourced produce, food items, and arts and crafts from surrounding areas. It is located on the 100 block of Valley Street between Patterson and Ashley streets (behind the Historic Courthouse.) The market presents producers from the surrounding areas of Lowndes County offering fresh fruit, vegetables and so much more.
One of the best things to purchase at the market is GG’s Sugared Jalapeños Peppers. They’re sweet. They’re spicy. They’re just right. This is a sweet/sour pickled Jalapeños pepper that is great as a relish on hot dogs, burgers, cold cut sandwiches, pulled pork, coleslaw, potato salad, on grilled cheese sandwiches, on Italian beef and Italian sausages, or mixed in with your cornbread. Or try them on top of tacos or nachos!
I often just take a brick of cream cheese and cover the top with these tasty rings and serve with crackers as an appeteaser. So simple! The cheese balances out the heat with a little coolness. They are the perfect combo of sweetness with a kick. You can even eat them right out of the jar with a spoon. I won’t judge you!
Do you have company coming and just need a simple snack. Here is a great way to use them.
Sugared Jalapeno Spread
- 1 jar GG’s Candied Jalapeños (I used about 2/3 cup)
- 1 block Cream Cheese, softened
- Spoon the Candied Jalapeños and the softened block of cream cheese into my food processor, and pulse to chop and blend the two ingredients.
- Taste-check to see if more jalapenos are needed.
- Chill until ready to serve on crackers
Don’t stand on ceremony! You’ll want to use a rubber spatula to get a creamy schmear of sweet-heat of spread on the cracker. It’s that good!
Sweet and spicy and incredibly addictive – you’ll never want to go back to a normal pickled jalapeño after trying GG’s Candied Jalapeños. Seriously – if you love the sweet and spicy combination, you’ll be eating these like candy.
You better hurry doewn to Farm Days to get your supply of GG’s Sugared Peppers. There are only two weekends left this year for Farm Days.
